Tuesday, February 23, 2010

A major clinical, research and teaching facility contacted Medical Technologies with an exciting project: “help us design and outfit a new state-of-the-art space for our Audiology Department.”  The department is one of the world’s largest audiology groups.  It conducts research and provides patient care in the following areas:  balance and vestibular testing, cochlear implants, hearing evaluation, hearing aids and implantable hearing aids, infant hearing screening and vestibular rehabilitation.

For Medical Technologies, the project represented a unique opportunity to demonstrate the full range of products and services we offer.  Medical Technologies employees consulted with a range of clinic personnel (including physicians, clinicians, architects, decorators, purchasing agents, program directors, etc) to determine needs, preferences and specifications.  Next steps included consideration of potential vendors and products, recommendations based on our understanding of clinic objectives, and sourcing products and services selected by the clinicIn addition to 13 new sound suites, Medical Technologies provided and/or specified the following types of instrumentation to outfit them:

• Clinical audiometers
• Diagnostic Middle Ear Analyzers for immittance, Eustachian Tube, and Acoustic Reflex evaluation
• Otoacoustic emissions instrumentation
• Video and animated toy VRA systems for pediatric evaluation using Visual Reinforcement Audiometry
• Sound field speakers
• Computers, printers, touch screen monitors
• Wall-mounted storage and display systems

Medical Technologies coordinated the sound room installation crew, installed and calibrated the instrumentation and sound fields in each booth, and provided complete product and application training for all new equipment in cooperation with representatives of vendor partners whose products were selected for the new facility.
